I use to serve in the Royal Signals and when I left I had a great job as a Multi Site Marketing & Sales Manager for a large High Street Travel Company.
When I met my husband and we were posted to Colchester I had to leave my job as there was no post that I could transfer to in my relocation area.
I tried for 3 months to find a suitable job that I could do with the background that I had, but with no luck. I managed to get a short term contract for around 6 weeks with the MoD, but that was only short term!

Although there were these little contracts I didn't want to keep changing my career path every couple of weeks. I had no idea what I was going to do so my husband mentioned starting my own business. Eek - could be out of my depth was my first thought, but I gave it a go!
Due to my extensive travel background I came accross the oportunity to do 'Home Working' so I set up an office in a friends building and built up a client bank. I focused on supporting the Forces and started FDTE Forces Discount Travel Experts, but with the industry having many companies going bust, it proved harder and harder and therefore I had to end my travel venture. Along the way I taught myself online and with two technicaly minded cousins, how to build websites. This was very challenging but I loved it and now both my cousins work for me at WA Designs.
I have a keen eye for design and love doing something different everyday, I was able to market myself online and by being resourceful with my networking flare I have managed to build some fantastic sites for some great companies. Along the way I have built and online equine store which supports the Royal Navy, British Army & RAF and www.dhfequine.co.uk 3 months ago celebrated it's 1st anniversary and is in record profit against last year when I started.
I came accross my business partner Nicola Lyle who works with me on here simply by building and designing her site www.forceshomefront.co.uk and by learning what other business that she runs www.icandc.com she has assisted me with coping with my massive workload. It is funny I seem to assist her with hers too so it works very well.
I really did believe that if I support an enviroment that I know, love and respect that I could give back to people what I have learnt on the way and having Nicola by myside we are unstoppable. You can not expect to know everything but if you network with each other and use a site like www.forceswifeforceslife.co.uk you too can assist other partners in simular situations and learn more about yourself along the way.
